CA DEL NORTE 1979 TR#85 41 56 N 124 08W ELV 80 FT * Hy197, May, 1979, 10 PM, about 1 mile west of Hy 199 jct., in a small park, Simpson Grove, along the Smith River in Redwood forest, northern California, elevation 250 ft.. Witness’ was sitting around fire and heard loud crashing and rustling in the woods 50 feet away. Husband and three friends, plus witness turned to see a set of red glowing eyes...actually glowing, not reflecting. It just stood and watched us for about a minute. Witness could not see outline in the dark but estimated creature about 8 feet tall. “It then turned and walked away, making the same crashing noise.” After the shock wore off they considered the creature very spooky, and having spent a lot of time in that county had never seen anything like it before.

Sighting Text:
CA DEL NORTE 1989 TR97 840 FT 415231N 1235038W * Rob Butler report One of my encounter with a Big Foot was in the Winter, Feb. 1989 On Highway 199 just out side of Crescent City by Patrick Creek. It was in the day about 2:00 PM and it was cloudy and had just stopped raining. I pulled over along side the road to eat a sandwich. There was a Bridge about 200 yards in front of the truck and there was a steep hill right along side the truck. As I was checking out the great view I heard a large branch break and a Man like creature came rolling down the Hill and stopped on the road in a sitting position about 100 feet from the truck. It did not move for a few minutes. The Bigfoot Had long hair about 4 to 6 inches long and was red in color and moved it's arms up very slowly and was checking out his hands when it noticed me. The face looked very Human but was covered with hair ( much like a Mountain Man ) it seemed to be reading my mind or I had that feeling of being too scared to move. Then it slowly got up staring at me all the time. It was about 8 foot tall, and it took a step towards the truck and made a noise like talking but I couldn't under stand it. Then it turned and ran and in about 10 steps it was at the bridge and it jumped up the side of the concrete wall supporting the bridge and at about 15 feet up it disappeared into the woods. If you ever see a Big Foot don't move, and keep eye contact on it, and try to talk to it slowly and don't panic, but if it charges run like hell.

Kids had reported the creature three weeks earlier. I personally couldn’t see anything positive in the film, but he reports a greyish ape-like thing with a pointed head, and glowing red eyes, staring at them for ten seconds, when it turned and walked away. They had previously found an apple in the trail up the very steep hillside that they had ascended laboriously.

Sighting Type: 2
Summary: TWISTED TREES , 22 IN TRACK
Sighting Text:
CA DEL NORTE 2000 TR93 414522N 1241202W * Dr. Jim Karl, Jan 14, 00. During my trips from September through December, I drove around the areas north and south of Highway 199 east of Crescent City. The area seems like ideal Bigfoot country. I found two examples of twisted trees, which appeared to be done by Bigfoot. The trees were thicker than four inches and broken about ten feet up. I only picked up the scent of Bigfoot a few times. It seems that the Bigfoot in this area are very careful about not coming close to the mountain roads. I found one faint footprint, in a campsite that was about 22 inches by 8 inches. There was also a possible footprint in the snow, but I couldn't establish a trail of snow footprints so I'm a bit skeptical about that one. John Freitas brought his equipment along and did some sound experiments. On one occasion, we got a very clear "hooting" sound in response to our Bigfoot calls. We repeated the Bigfoot call a few times and repeatedly got the owl hoot in response.

CA,Del Norte,41,45,124,12,d,m,1996,t,44,TR#68-Jun’97,4,Don L./Crowe, ,12Whistles, branches breaking, * May 30th, my wife Theata and I had an invitation to the grand opening of the Pacific Northwest Museum of Natural History’s Sasquatch Exhibit IN ASHLAND, OR. We were astonished...this is a major multi-million dollar museum, run by respectable and reputable people...and they are taking a look at the “un-lookable!” Took lotsa’ photos, many of which I’ll run this news. Director Phil Lamb invited the WBS to contribute, and we have several things on display, with numerous plugs for the WBS. The display sets the visitor up as a scientist, using the scientific method to test the evidence portrayed, and make their own decision if the creature is real or not. A ballot at the end of the tour asks you to vote if you believe the creature is real, don’t believe, or undecided. At that early date, it stood at 28 believe, 20 not, and 18 undecided. This is a major exhibit! Support the museum, and visit this summer if you can...it’ll run until December, so make it a destination on your summer vacation. My attendance was paid by donation. Spoke to Don L., who recalls searching the mudflats near Florence, OR, with Peter Byrne, 24 years ago, in an investigation. Since then he had an experience a year ago off Hy. 101, near Crescent City, CA. There were three high-pitched whistles, then three more in answer, from higher up in the woods. He walked in with his son, and something very destructive would move sideways into the woods, breaking limbs and such. inches
