Sighting Text:
* Posted to BFRO list. (bfro-list@moneymaker.org) CA DEL NORTE 1998 TR#80 41 50N 123 58W Thursday, June 13th, 1998, 13 miles east of Gasquet, CA, on Little Jones Creek Road, off US HY 199 (Crescent City to Oregon), witness heard Bigfoot screams. The scream at 10 PM lasted until 2 AM, 6/14 in the afternoon, and was also witnessed by two friends. On 6/15 at 10 PM the scream was heard again, and on 6/16 it was heard at 7:45 PM, lasting for five minutes. Again on 6/18 at 2 AM it was heard. The screams appeared to be coming from a ridge west of witness’ house. they were loud, but from afar, and lasted from 20 seconds to a minute, and for a maximum at any one time of five minutes. Dr. Jim Karl visited the area (see report below). Dr. Jim Karl checked the Little Jones Creek area out on 8/7. It is about 25-30 miles NE of Crescent City, CA, on Hy. 199 (goes to Oregon). This was a very remote paved road and no houses were seen, although some roads were evident. It was some 3.6 miles from Hy 199 up Little Jones Creek, and all he saw was a feral cat. Strangely, he noted 5-6 cobbles in the 4-6 pound range in the middle of the road, distributed occasionally one at a time over about a mile.

It had been snowing recently and his son was looking at a mountain that had recently been clear-cut, when witness noted a human type figure at the top of the mountain. The figure was walking downslope and appeared to about 7-8 feet tall and was covered with a red-brown fur. Watching the creature, it continued down the hill, stepped over a fir sapling and just looked around. It had walked a total of 400 yards that both the witness and his son saw, then entered the forest at the base of the hill. Three other cars had pulled over to the side of the road to watch also.

CA DEL NORTE 1998 ELV 28 FT TR94 413136N 1240214W JIM KARL, usually ask people in Crescent City if they know of any sightings. I did find a waitress, who said her uncle in Klamath had found a Bigfoot track in his backyard a year and a half ago and had even made a cast of it. I told John Freitas about this, and hopefully he'll look into it. I strongly believe that Bigfoot is much bolder than most people think in terms of venturing near houses in remote areas. I'm sure that they raid orchards on a regular basis. A lady working at a Mini-Mart in Willow Creek told me that two of her friends spotted a Bigfoot in the middle of Highway 299 fifteen years ago. I was hoping to go out again in February, but the weather was too darn bad. I hope to take another trip as soon as the weather forecast shows some rain-free days up north. Dr. Jim Karl

Sighting Type: 3
Summary: VOCALIZATION

Sighting Text:
CA DEL NORTE 1999 TR#87 41.50N 123 58W 356 FEET * vonohain@sprynet.com (Jim Karl) April 31st trip. After waiting a long time for the weather to improve (not to mention procrastinating on finishing my income taxes), I just recently went up to Bluff Creek, Gasquet, and the Olympic Mountains. A lot of areas are closed due to an alleged "Port Orchard" tree root fungus so it's a good idea to call before going to an area. Bluff Creek was gated until the wet season was over (whenever that might be) so I had to turn away and go elsewhere. Much of the snow has melted off although there was thick snow a mile east of John Freitas' cabin near Gasquet. I also got my car stuck in snow in the Olympic Mountains near Pete's Camp on Blueberry Creek Road, where I underestimated the thickness of the remaining snow. I was able to shovel the snow away from the tires, jack up the front wheels, and put on tire chains so that I could back out. I noticed "birds" whistling around me as I worked on my tires. I turned around quickly and one "bird" immediately shut up. I also attracted "birds" when I was changing a flat tire on Forest Road 22 in February. It may just be that these "birds" are birds although I don't think I've ever noticed song birds clustering around a disabled motorist. Most birds don't seem that curious. (I also didn't see any birds.) I was able to see John Freitas, who was testing out some nice sound equipment to lure a Bigfoot. I had to cut my trip short because of a job offer that just came through. There were a few indications of possible Bigfoot presence near Gasquet. I put together a nice system for a stakeout. I have a turntable powered by a small electric motor that I rigged up. The turntable has a wire frame above it so that I can put a plastic umbrella over the assembly. My Sony night vision camcorder goes on the turntable along with a Taser. I put the whole arrangement on top of my car. I run wires down from the equipment to the inside of the car. That way, I can rotate the camera 360 degrees. I have a five inch TV, which is fed a signal from the Sony night vision camcorder. The TV is powered off a big twelve volt marine battery. I also bought a dome tent, which I would set up next to the car so that the Bigfoot would suspect that I was in the tent and not in the car. John Green mentioned an incident in which a Bigfoot had come around a tent that he was in multiple times on one Bigfoot expedition. I have an eight hour battery for the camcorder so that I can just leave the camcorder running until it runs out of tape (which I believe is two hours). I can turn on the laser sight on the Taser and fire it remotely by electric wires that I have rigged up. I have a little control panel with one three position switch that rotates the whole assembly either clockwise or counter clockwise, and two other switches for turning on the laser sight and for firing the Taser. The big problem with staking out an area is that you have to be protected from mosquitoes and the cold, which means that your ability to swing around a camcorder (or Taser) is highly limited. By placing a camcorder and Taser on top of a car and running all the wires inside the car for remote operation, an unobstructed field of view can be established. The only additional equipment that I need would be additional infrared filters for flashlights and spotlights (in addition to the rather inadequate small infrared light on the Sony camcorder). There is an impressive optional infrared light source with a one hundred foot range that a friend of John Freitas had. It plugs right on top of the Sony Camcorder. Unfortunately, I did not have time for a stake out on the last trip. It takes a while to set up the whole assembly right now so I have to work on making it more efficient so that I can set it up in just a minute or two. 4/22/99 follow up He's the guy (Frietas), who was reporting Bigfoot screams near his cabin about 14 miles from Gasquet. I tried a couple overnight stakeouts near there in August 1998, and heard some fog horn sounds. I've seen him twice. He's a pretty good guy. We drove around the roads there on my 1998 trip and surprised a bear near the road. I've e-mailed him several times. He's got a Bigfoot Search set for Memorial Day weekend.I'm sure he'd like you to come along.Dr Jim

Sighting Text:
CA DEL NORTE 1999 TR#88 * I just got an update from Harrack and Moneymaker about an incident near Fish Lake (CA). As you probably know, Fish Lake is only three miles from the road that goes to Bluff Creek. I used to detour over to it every time I drove up to Bluff Creek since it was so close. Construction crews appeared to be clearing a road that went beyond the camp site the last time that I was there. There were always lots of campers and fishermen at that lake despite the remote location. I remember an earlier story of footprints being found near Fish Lake. I saw a tree that had been broken off at about the eight foot level (It had about a four inch diameter at that height.) on the road outside Fish Lake. On my last trip in late April, the access gate to Bluff Creek was closed because of an alleged "Port Orchard" tree root fungus disease, whose spores might get on cars and be spread further. A sign said that the area would be closed for the rainy season. Anyone, who wants to go to Bluff Creek, had better contact the California Parks Department first to see if it's open. Best Wishes, Dr. Jim Karl

Sighting Text:
* Steven Rudometkin was himself searching for gold in the area of the South Fork of the Smith River; in the Six Rivers National Forest; about 13 miles ESE of Crescent City; CA. He says they were a long distance from regular roads and people when they came across a large redwood tree with the bark scraped away laterally. They did find another local who said it was a "Bigfoot Tree;" and had been scratched by one of them as a marker. He had seen a small one cross the river himself. While in the area at one time while mining; Steven said they noticed a bad odor; very pungent; a mix of unwashed human and a fish smell; he said. While with his partner; Gary; they had the cars parked next to each other; and in the middle of the night Gary said something picked his truck up about four feet in the air and let it drop. It didn't wake Steven though. One night while lying awake; not yet asleep; they both heard the sounds of little children playing in the distance. As they were so far out; and it was so late; they were at a loss to explain the noise. They had spent about four months camped in the woods hunting for gold.,

Little People napoleon@cnmnetwork.com On my last Bigfoot search, I met this local character in the Crescent City area while doing laundry at a Laundromat. He didn't have any stories about Sasquatch, but he claimed that he was walking near the Smith River and spotted two small bipeds about four feet tall late at night. I asked him if they might have been Bigfoot children or a race of dwarf Indians, but he only saw them in shiloutte. He did add that he talked with a local Indian, who told him "You got to see the little people," and who went on to say that they've been around the Smith River for a long time. They must be able to run like rabbits otherwise they would have been caught by now.
