CA TR20 This reminded Jim of a case in California. A couple had weenies on the grill when a dark Bigfoot came up and looked at them. They just left everything...hot dogs, grill, and all, and just baled out of there. Jim said it hadn't done anything, just looked at them. He says he would have stayed to study the creature right back.

Sighting Text:
CA, San Diego area, TR25 Some months later (1970), back in the Los Angeles area, I (Jackson Moore) met Bob Foreacre, an ex-paratrooper and truck driver that was recovering from an on~the-job back injury. Bob was married and had two children that he thought the world of, taking them almost everywhere he went. One night Bob called me, and asked if I had seen the 1l PM news on the Bigfoot that had been sighted south of San Diego. I said no, that I hadn't and we talked for a few minutes more, and then hung up. But the next day, Bigfoot was all he wanted to talk about, and as we were fishing, it was hard for me to get away from the subject. Bob was the type of person that if he didn't see it for himself, it just didn't exist. His argument was like so many others: that it was all a hoax. At that time I still had most of my research material and when we got home I showed him all the data, but he was still a non-believer. He said, "since San Diego ain't that far away, why don't we go check it out?" So we did. Come the weekend and we were ready to go. We packed some cameras, plaster-of Paris and camping gear - and side arms only. We arrived in San Diego around 10:30AM on Saturday, and called the TV station to get the address of the people who had seen Bigfoot. It seems, that they had several inquiries on this, because the information was not long in coming. Then we drove out south southeast around 12 miles, following the directions we had been given, and found the place we were looking for. The folks we met had been given a bad time by most of their friends over this, and they were reluctant to discuss any of it. Bob and I convinced them that we only wanted to make some casts of the prints and shoot some pictures of whatever we had found. So it was late afternoon before we were shown where to find the tracks, some four miles away from their house. They had gone into this area to search for wood, when they had seen Bigfoot. By the time we found the place, and set up camp, it was too late to do anything, but cook a meal and call it a day. After eating, we sat around talking about what we would do when and if we found anything. Around 10PM the full moon came up and Bob said he had to answer the call of nature, and so saying, he walked off into the night in a southwest direction. Once his sound disappeared, I went about getting everything ready for in the morning, making sure that everything was where we could find it when we needed it. I checked my watch, and saw that it was 11:05PM and no Bob. I hollered a couple of times but no answer. I waited a few more minutes and again called, no answer. I thought that maybe Bob was trying to pull my leg. At midnight, I figured that Bob had enough time to answer several calls of nature, and if he was joking around, it had gone far enough, so I took a five-cell flashlight and started looking for him. His trail wasn't hard to pick up, as Bob weighed around 280 pounds and had on cowboy boots, and the heels dug in deep. I had tracked him out into the middle of a clearing of about 40-50 acres surrounded by patches of scrub trees. When his tracks just stopped, there weren't any trees of any size in this area large enough to hold a 280 pound man, nor were any close enough for him to jump to. So I spent an hour going back over each print, to see if he had walked backwards in them. As far as I could tell, he hadn't. Then I went back to camp and emptied out several boxes, and took them back to the clearing and covered the last six footprints so that I could study them in daylight. I spent what remained of the night firing shots at five minute intervals, hoping that I would get a return shot. Came the dawn and I had a pile of spent brass and a sore arm, but still no Bob. I left the camp as it was and drove to the nearest phone and called the County police. After I had explained to them several times over the phone what had transpired, they sent a couple of deputies out to see into it. They arrived around 11:15 AM, and weren't any too happy about it. After giving them all the facts several more times, they finally agreed to follow me back to camp and would look into it. It was close to 1:00PM when we arrived back at camp. I was hoping to see Bob's face, sitting there, but it wasn't, so I showed the deputies where the tracks were, and made sure they didn't walk in them. Then when we got to the boxes, they could only scratch their heads, and say it didn't make any sense to them. They were stumped, plain and simple. After I explained to them that Bob was a family man, and also was expecting a sizable cash settlement (the family never received anything, possible foul-play?), he was not one to just disappear like that, so the deputies put in a request for some Pima Indian trackers that they use from time to time and they /'' arrived on Monday. Once they were shown where the tracks started they went alone. After they came to the tracks under the boxes, we could still see them from where we were in camp. After looking around for a few minutes, they carne back to the camp and got into the car that had brought them out, and wouldn't say anything more about what they had found. But they kept looking out into the clearing and shaking their heads in a negative way. I was asked to sign an affidavit to the facts as they found them. But from tha

Sighting Text:
CA TR25 * (Mike Jay report) A Salem, OR informant, who wishes to remain anonymous, reports that his uncle had a close-range Sasquatch encounter in the fall of 1978 or '79 on forested property the family owns in the vicinity of Sonora, CA, adjacent to Calaveras Big Trees State Park and a locality known as "The Sheep Ranch." The witness, who was bow hunting for deer at the time, had allegedly fallen asleep in his tree blind after a long, unproductive morning, and was awakened in mid-afternoon by the shaking of his stand platform and the sound of someone climbing up its improvised steps. At about the same time the witness noticed a powerful "wet dog" stench...then a large, hairy conical head and massive shoulders appeared in the blind's doorway from below, and a "human-like, very intelligent" face with large, round, pinkish eyes (didn't specify if this was supposed to be the eyes themselves, or the corneas, as opposed to things like inner lids, bloodshot whites, or other factors which may have simply given that impression)peered quizzically at the startled man for several seconds until, in a sudden panic, he threw his bow at it. The being retreated, and the badly shaken hunter was able to watch from his elevated perch as it slowly walked off towards cover some 40 to 50 yards distant, obviously in no great hurry, stopping once or twice to peer back over its shoulder in the direction of the blind. The witness described the creature to family members, including the informant, as being approximately 8 feet tall, 600 plus pounds, having exceptionally long arms and large hands, and being covered head-to-foot with shaggy, yellowish-white fur...an albino, it seems. No mention was made of whether tracks were found or, indeed, of whether or not anyone bothered to look. The informant does note that his uncle is an extremely proficient hunter and an experienced observer of wildlife who still pursues game in the same area, but gave up his bow in favor of a high-powered rifle not long after the incident occurred...?? (moraL..those who fall asleep in a blind, might have an awakening that's not kind.) .

* Frank Flaton investigation and report, 4/20. Raymond D. and his friend Dan, seniors in high school, were vacationing at Camp Richardson (T13N, R17E, CA) near the Lake Tahoe Wilderness over the Labor Day weekend in 1979. They were hiking to Fallen Leaf lake, and some 4-5 miles into the wilderness they found themselves lost. Deciding to return to Camp Richardson they began to follow a stream bed back to Lake Tahoe. Raymond said that this region of California had been experiencing a drought and that the stream bed that they were following was muddy and not full of water. It was approximately 1:00 PM when they found the foot prints in the muddy stream bed. The weather was clear and warm. The foot prints were very large, approximately 20 inches long and 8 inches wide. Even though there was a drought, the prints were fresh and still wet in the mud. Raymond also observed that there was no arch to the prints. Whatever had made the prints was flat footed. The stride between foot prints was a massive 5-6 feet. Raymond and Ken followed the prints for about 20-30 yards when they suddenly turned and went up a bank.

CA BUTTE TR98 * Rita of North CA Sierras tells of a remote cabin, and there’s a military generator used for power. She returned one night and it had been damaged. It was the big 4 cylinder type on skids, water cooled. The wires had been torn apart. They were the 1/2 inch cables, twisted and snapped and pulled apart. She learned that it would take 2000# sq. in. of strength to pull them apart like that...about like two 4 X 4’s pulling it between them. There was white hair, tissue, and blood mixed with the wires. Rita sent them to UC at Davis for analysis. They said it was human blood and hair that they couldn’t identify.

CA BUTTE 1988 TR#84 * BFRO report. In the upper Magalia area, on Dune Grade Road, Butte County, CA, mid- Aug. 1988, 8:45PM.. Witness went up Dune Grade in her pickup truck to enjoy the scenery and stars. Witness and friend drove up the road a couple of miles to a wide spot and pulled over to get in back of the truck. After some five minutes, a rustling in the manzinita east of them was heard. Standing up to get a glimpse of the wildlife (a mother bear and two cubs were seen two months prior). There was a deep growl in the brush, then a creature stood up to eye level with the witness. Both dove into the truck through the back sliding window and drove away at 35-40 MPH. The creature seemed to be paralleling them for several yards at near equal speed. Witness works as sheriff’s deputy and spends a lot of time in the back country on dirt bikes and jeeps, but has never encountered the creature again. Described as over 7 foot tall, huge hands with long, almost inproportionate fingers, deep guttural grunts almost resembling a chuckle, ran with great agility through the underbrush paralleling the truck with ease for the first 100-150 yards.

CA BUTTE 1990 TR95 39 45N 121 30W * From: Archery7 Date: 26-Jan-00 In 1990, (Calif.) this man, at that time, 23 years of age, during a very heavy snow storm had hiked in two feet of new snow to deliver a back pack load of food to some friends who were snow bound in a back woods cabin. He spent the day with them, had dinner, then left shortly before dark. It was now about 7PM, on a moonlit night with the full moon lighting up the area like day. He was paralleling a small creek which was the head waters of a small mountain lake. ( Lake Concow ) A Maidu, Native American Name. As he neared the lake he heard water splashing in the creek. He looked toward the noise and observed what at first he thought to be a large dark horse, crossing the creek. He stopped and watched from about 25-30 yds. The dark object then parted, he could make out two very large Ape’s looking, very hairy, very, tall and large, possibly 6 or 7 feet tall, and at least 400 lbs. or even heavier, animals of some type. They were crossing the creek to his side in 25 degree Dec. weather. Both creatures stopped still in the water, looked at him, he became terrified and started to run with much difficulty in two feet of snow. He looked back over his shoulder, stopped and watched the two creatures who were by now out of the creek, on the trail and paying him no more heed disappeared into the manzanita brush. He described one as being taller and heavier than the one behind as they disappeared. He made his truck parked on the road in short time. When he got home he made several phone calls, related the story to some friends, they laughed and accused him or being drunk. He has not talked of the incident to any one other than members of his family, until to day, after his mother related the story to me, and I called him for verification. I have known this man since his boyhood, he has never given me the impression he could or would fabricate a tale like this!
