Sometimes it is said that certain owls can be confused with reported
bigfoot sounds. This most often is accused of being the Barred Owl. However, it is also said that some alleged bigfoot
sounds are similar to the Saw Whet Owl. So below are some barred owl and saw whet owl vocals that might cause some
confusion. However, we don't see any similarities
to the above sounds.
Maybe that's just us?

*(Barred owls are very different from other owls. They mate for life and are very family oriented. The male
does not stray far from the female and the young remain at the nest as a family unit long after other owling species have
left the nest. It is not unusual to hear an entire family of barred owls call out in territorial defense. This can be triggered
by almost any loud noise at night. The mating calls & territorial calls are similar if not the same
on occurence.
Barred owls have a variety of vocals which range from single "whhaaaa" type hoots, to the typical "who cooks
for you, who cooks for you all" calls to primate-like "cackling". The latter being why they are so often mistaken for
bigfoot creatures. Don't let these beautiful birds fool you out there in the dark. They do sound quite spooky when they really
let loose, but... they are only owls, not bipedal primates.)

On July 1, 2000 Dr. Matthew Johnson had an encounter at the Oregon
Caves National Park in southern Oregon. (read the story here)
After his encounter he spoke with a ranger about it and stated
that he had heard a "whoomp" sound which most closely matched the sound a blue grouse makes. This is interesting given the
theory that bigfoot is most likely a primate, because below is a sample sound of a blue grouse compared with the "hoot" sounds
of a gorilla. Gorilla hoots generally indicate a slight annoyance and can sometimes be territorial in nature. Interesting
huh?

And finally... below is the sound of a gorilla scream, indicating
frustration or fright. Compare this scream to the screams of the alleged bigfoot recordings at the top of the page. The similarities
are remarkable and keeping in mind, that under the circumstances in which some of the alleged bigfoot recordings were obtained,
the creatures were stressed and/or frightened and in one instance had been shot at, this is just too coincidental to
ignore.
