This is possibly the Bigfoot story to end all Bigfoot stories. It centers around a collection of
small, remote, neighboring towns in the wilderness of Oklahoma which are reporting regular Bigfoot sightings.
Originally Native American settlements, the small towns have
grown up to service the logging industry in the woods. The populations are small. They are quiet, God fearing, straight talking,
countryfolk. The original natives of the area, the Choctaw and Seminole Indians say that Bigfoot is well known to them.
The whole area is covered by millions of acres of forest, valleys and creeks. Once out of the town
centers, the only ways are either old indian trails or logging roads. Many are blocked by fallen trees and boulders. Out of
the towns and off the highways, it is rugged and hard to cross terrain. Only horses or serious four wheel drives can handle
the trails, and once you're off them or stuck, you're on foot. This is wilderness with a capital W; beautiful, but dangerous.
The activity started in November 2000. Once night fell, locals reported all manner of strange activity;
crashing and thrashing in the bushes and trees surrounding the town; strange screams and roars; rocks hurled at barns and
houses; garden and farm equipment would go missing and turn up several miles away in the woods; mutilated cattle and deer
carcasses were found in driveways; the town's dogs were howling wildly. Some said it was Bigfoot, and that they had actually
seen a large, hairy creature, but most just put it down to bears, coyotes and other critters. Some people reported that the
creatures started getting nearer to their houses, coming to their windows (as reported by four eyewitnesses); and moving around
their property. Some of the locals became genuinely frightened, and felt besieged in their own homes.
News got to local TV of the Bigfoot reports and within days a media circus descended on the area.
According to reports, the activity became more and more intense though the Christmas and New Year of 2000/2001. People claimed
that the creatures were appearing both at night; disturbing the dogs and banging on the metal barns as well as watching the
houses from the woods during the day. The activity carried on through December 2001.
Over 160 eyewitness reports have been filed with local media, the police and research organizations.
Everyone's description of the creature(s) is almost identical; around 9 feet tall, covered in short, matted dark brown or
black hair, ape-like face, dark eyes, no discernible neck, and a terrible smell.
In December 2001, Bluebook Films for The Travel Channel, armed with state of the art nightvision and
infrared cameras, went to the area to meet the eyewitnesses, investigate what was going on, and see if they could capture
this creature on film. Bigfootville is their story.
And as a bonus, you will get to see the founder of this website (A.P.E.S.) briefly appearing in this documentary reliving
old memories of a time more than 20 years ago when her family's residence was visited by an unknown creature on at least
2 occasions.
