Many people have hoaxed bigfoot sightings in the past by wearing costumes and running out of the woods or across a highway etc..etc...etc...

Knowing what I do about the people who are looking for these creatures I am submitting this public warning to any would-be hoaxers.

For your own safety, it would be very wise not to attempt to dress up like one of these creatures in order to fake a sighting for a few good laughs with your buddies. The people in this field take this very seriously and most of us believe the only way to prove the existence of these creatures is to bring in a body. That means finding and killing one. That is a harsh statement but a true one nonetheless. Not only that, but many people when frightened by a large animal will defend themselves with whatever means they have available. In many instances this means using a gun. Aside from this there are also people out there who call themselves "Bigfoot Hunters" who are out there in the woods and driving roads trying to find and shoot one of these creatures desperately.

So if you are thinking about going out there and donning a gorilla costume or the like and planning to fool someone, you should be aware how very dangerous this is.
